Strategic Plan 2017 - 2021

Our strategic plan 2017-2021 is situated in an elaborate global and national sustainable development framework. In 2015, the world agreed to 17 sustainable development goals and 129 targets until 2030. In the same year, 197 countries Party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) agreed to the Paris Agreement which came into force in November 2016. The Agreement speaks to a low carbon, climate-resilient development trajectory with clear mitigation and adaptation goals. At the national level, development efforts are anchored in the Vision 2040 and the five year National Development Plan (2016/17-2020/21), as well as sector-specific strategic plans.

During the five years 2017 to 2021, ACTADE will build on its strengths as well as the lessons learned over the years to invest in three programme areas including trade empowerment; participatory budgeting and climate change action. Our approach is Human Rights Based, people centred advocacy and a priority focus on women and youth. The implementation strategy includes strengthening synergy with like-minded organisations, rigorous fundraising, and a prudent financial and human resources management. The core stakeholders include government institutions, private sector associations, small and medium enterprises, community groups, research institutions, development partners and media groups.

The implementation of the 5-year strategic plan will be guided by three major strategic objectives:

  • To enhance the capacity of  Uganda-Small and Medium Enterprises and producers to actively engage and influence trade and market development policies and initiatives.
  • To increase active citizen engagement in decision making processes.
  • To provide tools and knowledge to institutions and communities to address climate change through mitigation and  adaptation actions for sustainable development.
